RACE FOR THE CURE 2018

May 17 – 20, 2018

The  Susan G. Komen Association, Italy,  organized a fundraising event, Race for the Cure, dedicated to Health, Sports and Wellness in the fight against breast cancer, which took place in Rome from May 17th thru the 20th.

A press conference was held on Monday, May 7th at the Coni Headquarters, a partner in the initiative. In attendance were Giovanni Malagò, Olympic Committee President, and Prof. Riccardo Masetti, Susan G. Komen Italy President. Other attendees included Maurizio Mannoni, moderator, Aurelio De Laurentis, Honorary President of Race for The Cure, and Rosanna Banfi, Komen Italy Ambassador and patroness of “Women in Pink”.

The Susan G. Komen Association chose this occasion to inaugurate a new mammography mobile unit, equipped with a Metaltronica 2D digital system, an advanced mammography tool that produces superior high-resolution images, with low-dose radiation exposure.

This new mobile unit is equipped with Helianthus C Digital Compact Mammography equipment, whose ergonomic design improves safety and patient comfort, while optimizing space and operator work-flow.

The unit was available on site for the entire duration of the event within “Villaggio della Salute”, and offered women a free medical evaluation and mammogram in an effort to heighten awareness for the prevention of breast cancer.
